Terms & Conditions 2017-05-05T06:54:51+00:00

LANtek, Inc. has been in business since 1978.  We have sold and shipped used computer equipment all around the world.  We abide by the Better Business Bureau Code of Ethics and have never been investigated by the BBB for our business practices. Customer Satisfaction is our number one goal.

Used equipment is subject to minor scratches and flaws including but not limited to scratches, dents, gouges, thin cracks and discoloration. LCD panels may have scratches, spots, gouges, dead pixels or other minor cosmetic defects.

LANtek provides a ninety (90) day warranty from the date of invoicing on all computer hardware purchased.  This warranty provides that the hardware will perform to the original manufacturer’s specifications as demonstrated by the manufacturer’s diagnostics.  PCs and laptops are covered under a 90 day warranty excluding the battery. LANtek makes no guarantee of battery life.  Batteries are used and only covered under a 7-day DOA warranty. (DOA is defined as completely dead when the laptop is unplugged from the power source.)  LANtek’s sole responsibility is to replace or repair, at its discretion, any defective component. The defective hardware must be returned to LANtek accompanied by a return authorization number (RA) provided by LANtek (you must call to receive this number).  The replacement or repair will be performed within a reasonable amount of time, dependent upon the availability of parts and staff. In the event that a unit needs replacement, it will be replaced with the same model and configuration when available, or a model with comparable or better specifications. In the event a replacement or repair is impossible, a refund in the amount of the original purchase price will be provided.

When a warranty extension is purchased, the warranty will go into effect for a period of one (1) year from the original invoice date. The warranty does not provide for back-up or loaner equipment during the repair process.  Warranties exclude loss or damage caused by accidental or physical damage, spilled liquids, insect infestation, misuse, abuse or damaged caused by lightening, building electrical or wiring problems, unauthorized repair personnel or closing the lid on an object (i.e. pens/pencils).  Equipment with missing or altered serial numbers will not be covered under a warranty issue.

LANtek does not supply software or operating systems unless a licensed copy is purchased separately.  We make no representations as to the suitability of the hardware purchased to perform any particular software application.  It is the sole responsibility of the purchaser to investigate the minimum hardware requirements for any software intended to be utilized.  Failure of the purchased equipment to process a software application is not a warranted event.  LANtek is not responsible for any data or software loss during the repair process.  It is the user’s responsibility to keep a current back-up of all software and data.  Modification to the hardware’s operating system or hardware configuration voids any warranty.  Work done by LANtek to correct problems caused by such modifications will be performed at our published rates of $79.00 per hour for PCs and printers and $89.00 an hour for laptops and notebooks with a $50.00 minimum charge.  Telephone technical support provided to correct such problems will be charged at the rate of $25.00 per quarter hour.  Software issues caused by the user or third party software, utilities, etc. are not covered under the warranty.

LANtek does not receive manuals or start up diskettes thru its recycling efforts.  Therefore, these items cannot be provided with your purchase.  In most cases, operating instructions and specific machine software setup software can be downloaded from the manufacturer’s website.

Any purchase may be returned for any reason within the first thirty (30) days of purchase.  LANtek will refund the original purchase price less a fifteen percent (15%) restocking fee.  The customer is responsible for both the original shipping cost and the cost of return shipping.  The customer is responsible to get a return authorization number from LANtek.  The returned product must be in its original purchase condition.  Any work necessary in order to return the item to the original purchase condition, including removal of application software, will be billed at our published repair rates (see above) and deducted from the refund.

LANtek uses a third party carrier for shipping and cannot be held responsible for damages incurred during shipping or delays in shipping, pick up or drop off.  All equipment shipped via a carrier is insured for the purchase price.

LANtek is not responsible for any incidental or consequential damages arising from the use or misuse of the purchased product.  In no event, will LANtek’s maximum liability exceed the purchase price of the equipment.

All legal disputes concerning transactions between LANtek and users of this site will be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
